Approaching the last 10 days of the Holy month

We have come to terms with the significance of the last 10 days of Ramadan because of their virtues.

The holy month of Ramadan is rapidly getting to that point you need to brace up and double your acts of Ibaadah. The last 10 days are coming!

The third part of the month is a period of nine or ten days that every conscious Muslim must observe seriously. This is not about eating, drinking or engaging in any fanfare. It is devoted for Ibaadah (Worship) that is devoid of frivolities and vain talks.

At this point, the question we should be asking ourselves is how prepared we are to engage in extra acts of Ibaadah in the next few days.

We have come to terms with the significance of the last 10 days of Ramadan because, the Imaams and scholars around us have repeatedly told us about the virtues of the last 10 days.

More important is the fact that the Holy Qur’an, the guide and criterion was revealed to Prophet Muhammad on the night.

Just a little reminder, Allah told us about a particular night in the last 10 days in the Qur’an. This night is too popular to be forgotten. So don’t say you didn’t see it coming.

“Allah says: The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshiping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months). Therein descend the angels and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] by Allah’s Permission with all Decrees.”

When exactly is this night that is so glorious and better than 1000 month? The best answer I have for this question is Allah knows, only Allah knows! And I am not sure you know either.

Since none of us is knowledgeable enough to tell us the exact night, we don’t have to wait for the night of the 27th of Ramadan to do the needful.

Now that we know the night of majesty is hidden in the last 10 nights, why don’t we consider the verse above as a mercy of Allah upon us because worshiping Him on this night is better than 1000 months? Why don’t you make up your mind to worship Allah throughout the last 10 nights? It is the best thing we can do to help ourselves.

Allah loves his slaves and he has given us these nights, it is now left for us to follow the instruction. 10 nights out of the many nights we have spent away is nothing compared to the gains we would cart away.

So brothers and sisters, brace up, make up your mind and be ready to step up your acts of worship in the last 10 nights. The rewards are your not anybody’s.
